From time to time, a member writes in and states an inability to login. To make sure we are all on the same page, I created this trouble-shooting post to help you login and get to the ‘good stuff’ inside The Vault as soon as possible.
To start, Deron created a short screencast video showing the login process:

The updated starting point is here:

Whichever starting point you choose, the process going forward is the same.
If you have followed the steps within the video and are still unable to login, the following may have occurred:
- Username vs. Email Address: At times, a member may be unable to login with their username. To test if this is the case, simply enter your email address instead of your username. This seems to solve the issue most of the time.
- IP Locking: Our membership system contains IP-lock programming to prevent users from trying to create a community-plan membership. That means, if you are sharing your password to friends, neighbors, your boss, your gardener, and Timmy the local paper boy, you will have your login access revoked. If this is the case, you will receive a message that says, “Invalid User” in red text. The only solution is to email our support team ([email protected]) and request to be re-instated ‘sans community’.
- Forgotten Password: Hey, no problem! We all forget (or, neglect to write down) these things from time to time. Simply use the ‘Forgot Password?’ box and you will receive your credentials via email.
- Mistyping: Yeah, believe it or not, I have to mention it here. Please ensure that you have typed in your username or email AND password correctly. You would be best off writing down your full login credentials somewhere (or, using a password protect program, such as Roboform) and always having it readily available.
If — for some odd reason — you are a part of the very, very, very small minority who still cannot login after trouble-shooting all of these steps, please feel free to contact us and we will look into it.
We hope this helps.
